Old homes come with more than old walls.
The owners purchased a historic home with plans to renovate it for modern living, including the addition of an attached garage. The challenge was finding a solution that respected the character of the house, worked within a constrained site, and could successfully navigate historic design review.
We pushed the site plan to work as hard as possible, using the maximum allowable coverage to achieve the needed layout while keeping the addition compatible with the original home.
Because the property was subject to historic review, we also prepared a separate design-review submittal and attended the board meeting to present the project and advocate for our client.
It was the kind of project we enjoy most: part design problem, part code puzzle, part negotiation, and a lot of respect for what was already there.
